Volunteering
Join a Movement!
For over 55 years, Walk-In has proven that transformative mental health care happens when passionate people come together around a shared mission. Our 100+ volunteer counselors, team consultants, and 15+ receptionists aren't just providing services—they're actively reshaping what mental health support can look like in our communities.
Make History!
When you volunteer with Walk-In, you become part of something bigger than individual sessions or appointments. You join a model that has influenced national conversations about accessibility, helped destigmatize mental health care, and continues to demonstrate that barriers to healing are meant to be broken. Every shift you work contributes to a growing body of evidence that community-based, barrier-free mental health support isn't just idealistic—it's essential.
Our volunteer teams work collaboratively, with four counselors, a team consultant, and a receptionist supporting each other through our virtual clinics on Zoom. Whether you're a seasoned professional or a student in training, everyone comes to Walk-In ready to learn in partnership. We operate on a trimester system designed to support ongoing training and development, creating structured opportunities for growth while maintaining the continuity our clients deserve:
- January-April
- May-August
- September-December
Whether you commit to weekly shifts, monthly hours, or serve as a substitute, you'll be part of a network that values both professional excellence and collective learning. The demand for what we offer continues to grow, and that's both a challenge and an opportunity. Each new volunteer multiplies our capacity not just to help individuals, but to prove that accessible mental health care strengthens entire communities.
