Advanced Graduate Student Placements
Our training model emphasizes clinical skill development through direct patient care without the administrative constraints typical of many clinical settings. Since we provide services regardless of insurance status and operate without diagnostic coding requirements, students develop therapeutic skills through a client-centered approach focused on clinical assessment, treatment planning, and intervention rather than documentation compliance.
Clinical training at Walk-In includes:
- Crisis assessment and brief intervention techniques
- Multicultural clinical competency development
- Team-based consultation and collaborative care models
- Community resource assessment and referral coordination
- Clinical work with diverse populations facing complex psychosocial stressors
- Evidence-based therapeutic approaches adapted for brief contact settings
We accept 12-15 clinical-year master's and doctoral students annually. Qualified candidates demonstrate a minimum of five years of experience in mental health or social services and maintain availability for both daytime and evening clinical hours. This prerequisite experience ensures preparedness for our high-volume, diverse clinical environment requiring strong clinical judgment and professional maturity.
Students not yet in their clinical year may apply for receptionist positions to gain familiarity with our clinical model and demonstrate readiness for future placement consideration.
