All Levels Motivational Interviewing: March 19, 3-5 pm on Zoom.
Join Us! Walk-In is excited to offer a training on motivational interviewing
Training Description: An interactive workshop exploring Motivational Interviewing (MI), a “particular way of talking with people about change and growth.” MI is an evidence-based approach to engaging with people—meeting them where they are at and gently guiding them toward the answers already present within themselves.
Participants will learn and practice facilitating meaningful conversations in a spirit of partnership, acceptance, collaboration, and empowerment. This training is appropriate for helpers in any field, whether new to MI or seeking to deepen existing skills. Content is based on Motivational Interviewing, 4th edition, by William Miller and Stephen Rollnick, as well as the teachings of Stephen Andrew of HETI Maine.
About the presenter: Chris Tomkins, LPC, NCC, ACS, CCS, is a seasoned helper with experience serving mental health, addiction, and correctional populations. He is a husband, father, and recovering New York Jets fan. Chris works at Caldwell Mental Health in Caldwell, NJ, where he focuses on helping lost young men, men in the doghouse, and high-conflict couples by using Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Relational Life Therapy.
2 CEUs are available for a nominal fee. Walk-In current and former volunteers attend for free.
