When you gather a group of counselors and other mental health professionals, great things can happen. This month, Sharon Sinclair, a member of the Minnesota Employee Assistance Program Administrators and Counselors, stopped by Walk-In with a wonderful story about how this group of caring individuals decided to “pay it forward.” MEAPAC is an organization of professionals in the employee assistance field. Members assist employers with their employees’ short-term counseling needs — such as grief counseling or counseling for laid-off employees. “We see the whole gamut of things somebody could be going through,” Sharon says. So when the members of MEAPAC decided to reorganize in a way that reduced their annual costs, they saw an opportunity to support Walk-In with a donation. “We’re all about making services accessible, and so are you!” Sharon says. Sharon stopped by with a check for the donation from the group. Their donation will help us meet a matching grant from the Frey Foundation for gifts from new donors, and donors who increase their giving by 10 percent over 2017.
