Home » Need Ethics CEU’s? Training Thursday, Dec. 12
  • December 5, 2019December 12, 2019
  • Walk-In Counseling center will hold a training on ethics and boundaries (2 CEUs) on Thursday, Dec. 12, from 6-8 pm at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 3045 Chicago Ave., Minneapolis. The training is free for all current and former Walk-In volunteers and open to all for a nominal fee ($20, or $10 for students, payable at the event). To register, email pchang@walkin.org or call (612) 870-0565 x 111. OR CLICK HERE TO RSVP THROUGH EVENTBRITE.

This conference will encourage counselors to explore ethical, confidentiality, and boundary issues that arise in short term counseling situations and in ongoing interactions with clients. There will be a brief formal presentation and exploration of multiple real time situations in small groups. The CEU credits for this training can go towards the ethics requirement for licensure.

    Learning objectives:

    1. Understand the expectations of ethics and boundaries of your professional group.
    2. Develop tools to manage ethical and boundary issues in your practice.
    3. Work towards developing comfort with the uncomfortable.

    About the presenter:

Abby Kirschner is a retired licensed clinical social worker who has worked in the profession in a variety of settings. She started as a pediatric social worker at HCMC in 1978, and eventually was the co-director of Behavioral Science in the HCMC Family Medicine Residency. From 2001 to 2019, Abby was on the staff of Regions Hospital emergency room crisis center assessing patients experiencing mental health crises. Throughout her career, Abby was involved with national organizations and presented at multiple conferences around the country.

    About getting there:

Mount Olive Lutheran Church is at 3045 Chicago Ave., easily accessible by public transit, car, and bike. There is street parking as well as a free parking lot on the southeast corner of Chicago Ave. and 31st Street.
